Resolving Rental Business Underserved Areas and Enhancing Labor Force for Field Crops
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangneung City, Gangwon Province, announced on the 7th that it has newly constructed the Ok-gye Branch of the Agricultural Machinery Rental Center to reduce labor and eliminate underserved areas in the agricultural machinery rental business, aiming to increase farm income.

View original imageAccording to the city, the construction of the Ok-gye Branch was prepared for farmers in the Ok-gye area, who had difficulty benefiting from the rental business due to its distant location from the existing rental centers.
A budget of approximately 2.07 billion KRW has been allocated for the construction of the rental center building with a total area of 660㎡, and 800 million KRW will be invested in purchasing about 100 rental agricultural machines and 10 management equipment units.
With this, Gangneung City will operate a total of four centers: the Sacheon Main Center in Sacheon-myeon, the Southern Branch in Bakwol-dong, the Western Branch in Seongsan-myeon, and the newly planned Ok-gye Branch.

A city official stated, "Farmers in the Ok-gye area will now be able to rent the agricultural machinery they need at any time," adding, "In particular, the Ok-gye area is equipped with the latest various agricultural machines incorporating new technologies to increase mechanization rates in the field crop sector, which is expected to alleviate labor shortages."
