Local Police Officer Uses Profanity Toward 112 Caller... Investigation Launched
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Taewon] It was later revealed that a police officer belonging to a local police station used abusive language toward a woman who made a 112 emergency call. The police launched an internal investigation into the officer following the controversy.
According to the police on the 31st, Officer A of the Yonggang Police Station in Mapo-gu, Seoul, accidentally operated his mobile phone on November 23 last year and, unaware that he was still on a call, uttered abusive language while mentioning the caller's real name. The caller, B, who had been under police protection since April last year, reportedly called the police after seeing a suspicious man trying to open the front door of her home.
Caller B immediately rushed to the police station to protest and requested an apology letter. However, it reportedly took about 20 minutes to identify Officer A at the station, and B was only provided with a photocopy of the apology letter, causing further inconvenience.
