Seoul Facilities Corporation Receives Grade 2 in Public Institution Integrity Evaluation
Best among Local Public Corporations and Corporations
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Seoul Facilities Corporation announced on the 27th that it received a ‘Comprehensive Excellence’ (Grade 2), an improvement from last year, in the 2022 Public Institution Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation announced by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
Among local governments and public corporations nationwide, no institution received Grade 1, so this is effectively the highest grade awarded. The corporation’s integrity rating has risen three levels over the past four years, receiving Grade 5 in 2019, Grade 3 in 2020 and 2021, and Grade 2 this year.
The evaluation conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission covered 569 public institutions nationwide and reflected factors such as integrity perception and experience of corruption among complainants and employees during work processes, integrity efforts including the establishment and operation of anti-corruption systems, and the occurrence of corruption incidents.
Last year, aiming to boost integrity, the corporation implemented company-wide integrity innovation measures, with the CEO personally presiding over monthly dedicated integrity meetings. Efforts to improve integrity included introducing reverse mentoring for sincere communication with the MZ generation, conducting company-wide special training and mock drills on reporting procedures to actively respond to the changing integrity environment.
In particular, all executives from the institution head to team leaders signed a ‘Pledge to Eradicate Power Abuse and Unfair Orders,’ and to block influence after retirement, a ‘Conflict of Interest Prevention Compliance Pledge System’ was introduced for retirees, striving to root the value of integrity within the organization.
