The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, 19,538 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the cumulative total to 30,045,560 cases.
The number of new confirmed cases reflects the holiday situation, decreasing by 17,358 compared to a week earlier on the 18th (36,896 cases). However, it increased by 7,276 compared to the previous day (12,262 cases), which is attributed to an increase in testing towards the end of the Lunar New Year holiday. Among the new confirmed cases, 29 were imported from overseas, 2 fewer than the previous day.
The number of critically ill patients hospitalized was 482, an increase of 14 from the previous day.
