Recently, interest in 'everyday safety' has been rising amid a series of various disasters. In particular, attention is focused on AED, a representative emergency device. Security company S-1 has also seen an increase in inquiries about AEDs. S-1’s AEDs are equipped with key functions to increase the survival rate of cardiac arrest patients in emergencies. On the 24th, S-1 announced that it is expanding its AED-related services. These include shortening AED activation time to secure the golden time, a self-test function for stable management, and free CPR education to spread a safety culture. First, to secure the golden time, S-1 shortened the entire process time from the first step of AED operation, 'attaching electrode pads,' to 'electrocardiogram analysis.' For cardiac arrest patients, using CPR along with AED within 4 minutes can raise the survival rate up to 80%. Since the golden time is short, using the AED even one second faster is crucial.

View original imageUnlike existing AEDs that require electrode pads to be attached precisely at predetermined left and right positions to operate, S-1’s AED allows attachment without distinguishing left or right. After attaching the electrode pads, electrocardiogram analysis and charging time are needed to deliver an electric shock, but S-1’s AED has significantly reduced the electrocardiogram analysis time. While the conventional process takes about 10 seconds, S-1’s latest AED can complete it in 2 seconds.
To prevent accidents caused by poor management, a 'self-test' function that diagnoses battery charge status and normal operation daily is also installed. Rapid aftercare is supported through over 100 branches nationwide. For customers using rental services, S-1 staff directly replace consumables according to replacement schedules and provide annual regular inspection services. They are also preparing to launch an 'online remote management service' that automatically notifies the person in charge if a device abnormality is detected.
S-1 also provides free training on AED usage and CPR. This is because to increase the survival rate of cardiac arrest patients, CPR must be performed alongside AED use. Having signed a business agreement with the Korean Association of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in 2010, S-1 has conducted CPR training for customers for over 10 years. Recently, the training target has been expanded to the general public. So far, about 100,000 people have obtained CPR training certificates through S-1. There have also been about 30 cases where customers who received training used CPR to save cardiac arrest patients.
