According to the provincial fire headquarters, the pre-inspection system for fire facilities operates by allowing business owners or contractors to voluntarily submit construction plans to the fire station before starting business or indoor construction. The submitted plans are then compared with existing fire facility blueprints to inform whether the fire facilities are appropriate and to point out any necessary improvements.
This system is implemented in cooperation with the Changwon Fire Headquarters, the Korea Specialty Contractors Association, the Korea Association of Realtors, the Korea Fire Safety Institute, and city and county local governments.
The provincial fire headquarters plans to promote the system through public and private websites, broadcasts, card news, leaflets, and electronic display boards, and to implement it starting March 1.
The Fire Civil Complaints 119 website provides information on specific fire-targeted facilities and multi-use establishments, workflow charts for each civil complaint service, penalties for violations, and contact information for the responsible fire station personnel.
It will be promoted in connection with the Fire Facility Civil Complaints Center and the National Petition System, with a pilot operation scheduled for March and full operation expected around April.
In addition, separate from the school's own safety inspections, facility safety surveys will be conducted to enhance fire safety management in schools.
Kim Hwansoo, Director of Prevention and Safety, said, “This initiative aims to discover and eliminate potential risks hidden throughout living spaces to enhance the safety of residents,” adding, “Both policies are the first of their kind to be attempted nationwide.”
