This project is a Jeollanam-do policy initiative to be promoted until 2025 with three main goals: 'awareness change,' 'environmental cleanup,' and 'landscape improvement.'
The city plans to recruit and select 45 additional villages this year following 90 villages last year, and create distinctive landscapes through village-specific consulting.
Villages wishing to participate in the project should fill out and submit the project plan form available at each eup, myeon, and dong administrative welfare center by the 25th.
Village selection will be finalized next month after internal review and Jeonnam Province evaluation, and from this year, each selected village will receive 5 million KRW annually for three years to support landscape improvement and other necessary expenses.
Bonghwang-myeon’s 'Sinseok Village' and Donggang-myeon’s 'Mongsong Village,' which were selected as excellent best villages through last year's Jeonnam Province performance evaluation, will be allocated an additional 2 million KRW project fund this year.
The city plans to create synergy in village landscape improvement by linking similar projects previously promoted, such as 'Clean Naju Making' and 'Resident Autonomy Village Development,' with the Best Village project through collaboration with public institutions and organizations.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “Through the Best Village Making project, residents are voluntarily taking an interest in village development, creating not only a pleasant environment but also a mature community. We expect that this year as well, the valuable efforts and affection of residents will beautifully cultivate every corner of the region.”
