Jeonnam Police Launch Crackdown on Election Offenses in the 3rd Nationwide Simultaneous Cooperative Head Elections
Strict Punishment for Three Major Election Crimes Including Bribery
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Jeonnam police announced on the 17th that they will launch a full-scale crackdown system to ensure that the '3rd Nationwide Simultaneous Cooperative Association Head Election' held on March 8 is conducted fairly and justly.
To this end, starting from the 17th, a 'Special Investigation Team for Election Offenses' will be formed at police stations within the jurisdiction, and a close cooperation system will be established with related organizations such as the Election Commission and the Prosecutor's Office. They plan to do their best to ensure that the election is clean and fair with a strict and neutral attitude.
In particular, they plan to strictly crack down on the 'three major election crimes' defined as ▲bribery ▲spreading false information ▲illegal election interference by cooperative executives and employees, which seriously undermine the fairness of the entrusted election.
Additionally, since there is a high possibility that money or goods will be provided under the pretext of holiday greetings or Lunar New Year gifts, or that illegal election campaigns will be conducted, they will strengthen intelligence gathering related to this and carry out focused crackdowns.
A Jeonnam police official said, “For a fair election, not only the efforts of the police but also active reporting and tips from the public are important,” and urged, “If you become aware of illegal activities related to entrusted elections, please actively report them to 112 or the nearest police station.”
