Shopping Bags and Product Cases Received When Purchasing Luxury Goods Are Also Popular
Shopping bags, product boxes, and cases from luxury brands have become valuable items in the secondhand market.
On the 11th, dozens of posts selling shopping bags and cases from high-end brands such as Rolex, Herm?s, and Chanel were uploaded daily on multiple secondhand trading platforms. Luxury brands, which were often traded through secondhand platforms due to their high prices, now see even empty packaging become popular items.
Searching for "Rolex box" on a secondhand trading platform yielded dozens of posts. The market price for Rolex watch boxes ranges from 200,000 to 300,000 KRW. Various boxes are traded, including product-specific and size-specific boxes, as well as vintage boxes from about 10 years ago. Additionally, Omega watch boxes sell for 150,000 to 200,000 KRW, and IWC watch boxes are sold for 50,000 to 100,000 KRW.

"It's Expensive to Buy the Main Product for a Proof Shot"...Accessory Prices Rising
The reason accessories, not the main products, are sold at high prices is analyzed to be due to "conspicuous consumption." People buy secondhand shopping bags and boxes to use for "proof shots" posted on social networking services (SNS).
A luxury shopping bag seller said, "You can only get a shopping bag by purchasing a product from a luxury brand, but since even the smallest items from these brands easily exceed several hundred thousand KRW, people just buy the shopping bags secondhand."
Empty bottles of expensive champagne, wine, and other alcoholic beverages are also traded. Mr. Lee (28), who purchased an empty bottle of the high-end champagne "Armandi" through a secondhand trading platform at the end of the year, said, "I used wine and champagne bottles as props for interior decoration and posted it on my blog. I wanted to display pretty bottles, but they were too expensive, so I bought only empty bottles secondhand and am satisfied."
