Yanolja "Year of the Rabbit Travel Trend 'RESTART'"
Extracting Keywords by Analyzing the Largest Domestic Travel Big Data
Yanolja announced on the 9th that it has selected 'RESTART' as the travel trend for the Year of the Rabbit.
RESTART is a keyword extracted by Yanolja through analysis of travel big data. It combines the initials of seven English terms: ▲Revitalization of the travel industry ▲Entertainment industry activation ▲Short-distance Travel popularity ▲Technology adoption acceleration ▲Abroad travel increase ▲Responsible Travel expansion ▲Tourism Economy through travel.
The revitalization of the travel industry is expected to accelerate further in the new year. After the lifting of social distancing and easing of entry and exit restrictions last year, travel demand surged significantly. Yanolja's booking volume grew by 74.4% compared to 2019, surpassing pre-COVID-19 levels. As many countries have transitioned to an endemic (periodic infectious disease outbreak) system, the company anticipates that the travel growth trend will continue.
The entertainment industry is also rapidly revitalizing. Last year, Yanolja's exhibition transaction volume increased by 252% compared to 2021, and Interpark's performance transaction volume rose by 159%. In particular, the number of performance ticket bookings exceeded 3% compared to 2019.
The popularity of short-distance travel is expected to continue. Unlike 2021, when many long-distance destinations such as the United States, Maldives, and Canada were popular, the top 10 cities by airline tickets in 2022 were mostly nearby countries such as Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Guam.
Technology adoption in the travel industry has rapidly expanded during the pandemic period. Leisure spaces have rapidly increased the adoption of solutions to attract explosive travel demand in the new normal era. The number of licenses for Yanolja Cloud, which provides cloud-based solutions, grew by 86% last year alone, surpassing 80,000.
The increase in abroad travel is also expected to continue. Last year, over 80% of overseas travel bookings were concentrated in the second half of the year when entry and exit restrictions were eased in various countries. Yanolja's overseas accommodation transaction volume increased by 3641% compared to 2021, while Interpark's airline ticket and package booking numbers rose by 1171% and 2064%, respectively.
Interest in responsible travel is also growing. The 'Travel Social Giver Project' involved about 50 young people who gathered travel ideas that could have a positive impact on local communities. Many hotels also launched packages including plogging and reusable item campaigns.
The travel industry is expected to play an important role in revitalizing the domestic economy as well. As a result of Yanolja's campaign targeting wildfire-affected areas in Gangwon Province, transaction volume for travel products in the Gangwon region increased by 47% compared to the same period in 2021, and the Gwangju regional exclusive hall saw transaction volume increase by more than 80% over seven months since its opening.
