40s Singer Sentenced to Prison for 'Again' Using Philopon During Probation Period
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Seoyul] A singer in his 40s who used methamphetamine again during his probation period was sentenced to prison.
According to the court on the 9th, Judge Lee Sugeun of the Seoul Southern District Court Criminal Division 3 sentenced singer Kim Mo (42), who was indicted last December 14 for violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances), to 1 year and 6 months in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to complete a 40-hour rehabilitation education program and pay a fine of 600,000 won.
Kim purchased 1 gram of methamphetamine from a drug dealer on the street in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, around November 25, 2021, paying 500,000 won in cash, and then used about 0.1 grams of methamphetamine at his home in Yangcheon-gu.
In October of last year, he used methamphetamine in his own car parked in the parking lot of a villa in Yangcheon-gu.
The judge stated the reason for sentencing, saying, "The defendant has one prior probation sentence for the same offense," and "The defendant committed the crime again immediately after receiving a copy of the related indictment."
