What is the automotive solution from Samsung Electronics that captivated the BMW chairman?
After Demonstrations of ReadyCare and ReadyTune, "Very Impressive"
[Asia Economy Reporter Sunmi Park] Oliver Zipse, Chairman of BMW, visited the Samsung Electronics exhibition hall at CES 2023, which opened on the 5th (local time), and showed great interest in Samsung Electronics' automotive technology. After demonstrating the future mobility solutions 'ReadyCare' and 'ReadyTune,' developed by Samsung Electronics in collaboration with Harman, he responded, "I was impressed. I am also curious whether these services are feasible."
ReadyCare (safe driving support) and ReadyTune (vehicle audio) represent the future mobility experience that maximizes the in-vehicle occupant experience while recognizing the driver's condition to promote safe driving.
ReadyCare is a safe driving support solution that detects changes in the driver's condition and activates related functions to maintain optimal driving conditions. By sensing the driver's facial expressions, gaze, and eye openness through in-vehicle cameras and sensors, it measures the driver's field of vision and cognitive ability in real time. If the driver is looking ahead but distracted by other thoughts, the system changes the in-vehicle environment through warning messages, sounds, lighting, and air conditioning to draw attention.
It also proposes routes that reduce the driver's stress by detecting real-time stress factors such as traffic congestion and weather changes. Based on heart rate information measured by wearable devices, it assesses the driver's stress level and suggests less stressful driving routes when traffic is heavy or weather conditions are poor. If the driver remotely activates home devices such as the TV, air purifier, or lighting to enter rest mode while driving, they can enjoy a comfortable environment immediately upon arriving home.
ReadyTune is based on sound management software embedded in the car audio system, supporting equalizer functions tailored to user characteristics and preferences, and providing optimized sound according to the number of passengers and seat positions. It offers sound effects such as 'Live Theme,' which simulates the sound of being at a live concert, 'Club Theme,' which delivers clear and funky bass sounds, and 'Talk Theme,' which emphasizes specific frequency ranges suitable for voice content like podcasts or audiobooks.
