It continued, "South Korea must fully recognize the harmfulness of this incident and take timely measures to eliminate its adverse effects," and "We solemnly urge South Korea not to engage in any form of official exchanges with the Taiwan region and to safeguard the overall situation of China-Korea relations through concrete actions."
Article 3 of the China-Korea joint communiqu? on establishing diplomatic relations states that "The Government of the Republic of Korea recognizes the Government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legitimate government of China, respects the position that there is only one China and that Taiwan is a part of China."
The embassy emphasized again, "The unauthorized visit to the Taiwan region violates South Korea's commitments to China," and "It sends the wrong signal to Taiwan independence forces, undermines the political foundation of China-Korea friendship, and is highly risky, which will cause serious shocks to China-Korea relations."
Earlier, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 31st of last month that "A delegation of South Korean National Assembly members and Cho Kyung-tae, chairman of the Korea-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Association, visited Taiwan from the 28th to the 31st," adding, "They met with President Tsai Ing-wen and Legislative Yuan Speaker You Si-kun, and visited the Mainland Affairs Council to exchange views on tensions in the Taiwan Strait and inter-Korean relations." The delegation also included National Assembly Vice Speaker Chung Woo-taek, Lee Dal-gon of the People Power Party, and Lee Won-wook of the Democratic Party of Korea.

China, upholding the 'One-China' principle, remains vigilant against visits to Taiwan by politicians and officials from various countries. When U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan in August last year, China was enraged and conducted high-intensity military exercises effectively blockading Taiwan. However, since then, lawmakers and officials from the U.S., France, the U.K., Japan, the Czech Republic, Australia, and others have continued to visit Taiwan.
