Suncheon-si Takes Action to Remove Illegal Outdoor Advertisements Damaging Urban Aesthetics

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the 4th that it is conducting a comprehensive cleanup of illegal outdoor advertisements that spoil the urban landscape to welcome the New Year.
The city is removing illegal outdoor advertisements throughout the city, focusing on areas with high foot traffic such as major roads and commercial districts, as well as public places.
In the eup and myeon areas, illegal outdoor advertisements are being removed in cooperation with the administrative welfare centers of the respective eup and myeon.
Illegal outdoor advertisements not only damage the city's image but also threaten the safety of pedestrians and drivers, potentially causing other safety accidents. Therefore, the city is continuously conducting a comprehensive cleanup.
Additionally, the city stated that fines will be imposed on advertisers who put up or distribute illegal outdoor advertisements.
A Suncheon city official said, “To prepare for the Lunar New Year holiday and the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo, which is just over 80 days away, we will actively crack down on and remove illegal outdoor advertisements that cause safety accidents,” adding, “We will show tourists visiting Suncheon during the expo a clean urban landscape befitting the ecological capital, Suncheon.”
