Prosecutors Summon Jo Jae-seong of OK Financial Group for Investigation... Alleged Military Service Evasion with 'False Epilepsy' Claim
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Seoyul] The prosecution summoned Jo Jaesung, a player belonging to the professional volleyball team OK Financial Group, who is accused of evading military service by faking epilepsy, for questioning.
The Joint Investigation Team for Military Service Evasion at the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office summoned Jo, who is suspected of violating the Military Service Act, for questioning on the 4th. Jo appeared at 2 p.m., completed about four hours of questioning until 6 p.m., and then returned home.
Although Jo was subject to active duty enlistment, he falsely claimed epilepsy symptoms and was classified as a social service agent (Grade 4) in a re-examination last February. During this process, he received assistance from Gu, a military service broker who was arrested and indicted on December 21 last year on charges of violating the Military Service Act.
