Gwangju Buk-gu Operates 'Cheonsa Free Meal Service' for Elderly Living Alone
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 4th that the 'Cheonsa Free Meal Service' will officially begin operation from the 6th.
Cheonsa Free Meal Service provides a warm lunch, such as seolleongtang, three days a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for low-income elderly living alone.
Due to the impact of COVID-19 and manpower shortages, the service had been suspended since October 2021, but it has reopened this time thanks to efforts from the local community, including the Korea Sharing Federation and Buk-gu Comprehensive Volunteer Center, to resume the service.
Moon In, the head of Buk-gu Office, plans to attend the opening ceremony and participate in meal distribution volunteer work, stating, "We will continue to strengthen the welfare safety net linked with the local community to ensure no neighbors are left isolated."
Meanwhile, the 'Cham Joeun Sarang-ui Bapcha' (Truly Good Love Food Truck), operated by Buk-gu and the Buk-gu Volunteer Center with sponsorship from IBK Industrial Bank, also plans to provide lunch starting in April.
