20 Years of Free Use Space Contract Ends at the End of July
Roy Gallery Free Rental, Artist Yoomyeongae Donates Works
[Asia Economy Reporter Nam Seung-ryul] ‘Ppuri House,’ which has been working for the hospitality and human rights of overseas adoptees, is holding a charity exhibition at Roy Gallery (CEO Yang Jeong-seung) in Apgujeong until January 10 to raise funds for securing a space for the Overseas Adoptee Center.
As the use of the space that has been used free of charge for 20 years expires at the end of July, it has become necessary to raise funds to secure a new space. Upon hearing this news, artist Yum Myung-ae donated all proceeds from the sale of 30 artworks to the fund, and Roy Gallery also agreed to provide the gallery space free of charge.
Artist Yum Myung-ae has been active in the art world for 57 years since being selected for the 15th National Art Exhibition in 1965. She is the daughter of artist Park Jeong-hee, famous as the watercolor grandmother, and the granddaughter of Park Du-seong, the inventor of Korean Braille for the visually impaired. Yang Jeong-seung, CEO of Roy Gallery, said, “Since its opening, Roy Gallery has been contemplating its role as an emerging gallery through innovative planning and discovering new artists, and we are participating in the charity exhibition together with Ppuri House. We will continue to contribute to the development of the cultural industry through curated exhibitions and artist discovery, as well as social contribution projects for overseas adoptees and socially vulnerable groups.”
