SPC Safety Management Declaration Ceremony... "Creating a Workplace Without Accidents"
Joint Labor-Management Effort to Strengthen Regular Safety Inspections
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] SPC announced on the 4th that it held a declaration ceremony at its headquarters in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, pledging to practice safety management in relation to safety accidents that occurred at its affiliate factories last year.
After the accidents, SPC immediately implemented improvements based on safety inspections by external professional organizations and the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s planned supervision results, and launched a Safety Management Committee composed of external experts. It also established task forces such as the Work Environment Improvement TF and Corporate Culture Innovation TF, planning to transform into a new SPC.
On this day, SPC announced a strategic framework centered on the Safety Management Committee, launched in November last year, including ▲creating a workplace free of accidents ▲establishing a working environment of respect and consideration ▲building a trusted safety management culture.
In the Industrial Safety Establishment division, SPC plans to actively pursue global safety certifications to establish a safety and health management system at the global standard level and actively introduce IT systems for safety management.
In the Labor Environment Improvement division, through the Work Environment TF launched last year with the labor union, SPC will actively promote shift system reforms, expand automation investments for hazardous equipment, and make efforts to strengthen rest and health rights.
In the Social Responsibility Implementation division, SPC will further strengthen communication with various stakeholders and promote ‘ESG + Safety Management’ through disaster relief activities and safety culture expansion campaigns.
SPC CEO Hwang Jaebok said, “Starting with the safety management declaration ceremony, we will do our best to elevate the safety management system to a global level and establish a culture that respects and considers employees so that we can be reborn as a new SPC.”
