Interpark's Free Travel Packages Increase Compared to Pre-COVID-19 Era
Share of Free Travel-Type Packages Rises 13%p to 45% Since 2019
Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Bohol Top List of Popular Resort Destinations
Interpark announced on January 4 that, in the second half of last year, free travel-type package products accounted for 45% of all package products sold. This represents a 13 percentage point increase compared to the second half of 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, when the figure was 32%.
Free travel-type package products are distinguished from traditional full-package products, where travel plans such as flights, accommodations, tours, and transportation are all pre-arranged. The key difference is that, in addition to the standard package inclusions-round-trip airfare, accommodations for the entire itinerary, tours of major attractions, meals, and transportation-these packages offer one or two days of free time for travelers to explore on their own. Because they can be booked by small groups, such as friends or families, it is easier to manage the travel schedule.
Phu Quoc in Vietnam ranked first as the most popular destination for free travel-type package products. This was followed by Nha Trang (Vietnam), Bohol (Philippines), Boracay (Philippines), and Osaka (Japan).
