Drought and War... Gwangju Dong-gu's All-Out Effort Including 'Water Saving Certification Shots'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City is making an all-out effort to overcome the drought crisis.
On the 28th of last month, Dong-gu held the 4th status report meeting on the practice of water-saving in daily life, chaired by the deputy district mayor, to review the progress made so far.
The inspection included checking the water-saving performance of all employees and encouraging departments with poor results to practice water-saving in daily life.
Civil servants carried out the water-saving campaign by submitting certification photos to the person in charge, showing actions such as adjusting the water pressure of meters at home, placing bricks in toilets, adjusting sink valves, and using cups for brushing teeth.
As a result, it was found that currently 88% of all employees in Dong-gu are practicing water-saving in daily life.
Dong-gu also designated and operated responsible officials living in each apartment complex to visit homes and adjust water pressure whenever residents request.
For apartment complexes excelling in water-saving practices, the district plans to provide incentives at the district level during the renovation projects of aging apartment facilities.
Separately, the “Dingdong! Mulkeurami Practice Group” has been organized and is operating in each neighborhood. Composed of experts, community leaders, and civil servants from each neighborhood, the “Dingdong! Mulkeurami Practice Group” visits households directly to assist with water pressure adjustment.
Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said on the 2nd, “Due to the severe drought, water supply restrictions are inevitable from the first half of next year,” and urged, “I hope civil servants will take the lead and actively participate in the water-saving campaign in daily life.”
