[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Kim Namsu (63), who has been continuing his donations for 11 years with money earned from selling Bungeoppang in Iksan, Jeonbuk, has continued his good deeds this year as well. Known by the nickname "Bungeoppang Ajusshi," Kim has been sending donations to underprivileged neighbors with the money he earned from his business.
According to Iksan City on the 30th, Kim visited Iksan City Hall and donated 3.65 million won for vulnerable groups. This amount was collected by Kim saving 10,000 won daily since January 1st of this year. He sends donations every year at the end of the year in this way.
Kim said, "It is even harder for vulnerable groups to get through winter when a severe cold wave comes," adding, "When I practice even a small donation for neighbors in need, the joy doubles and I feel enriched." The donation Kim contributed will be delivered to low-income households through the Jeonbuk Community Chest of Korea.
Kim has been continuing his donation activities for 11 years this year. Selling Bungeoppang at a small store opposite the Wonkwang University campus in Iksan, he has steadily practiced good deeds since 2012.
Especially in 2020, when self-employed people suffered great damage due to the spread of COVID-19, he did not stop his personal donation activities, supporting 114 bottles of hand sanitizer worth about 1 million won to social welfare facilities.
