Department Store Industry Holds Discount Events to Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Department store industry is holding discount events to welcome the new year of the Year of the Rabbit (Gyemyo Year).
According to the industry on the 31st, Lotte Department Store will hold the ‘2023 First Regular Sale’ from January 2, the first business day of the new year, to January 15.
With the theme of ‘Season Off,’ the sale focuses on price discounts including fashion product categories. All fashion product categories such as men’s and women’s fashion, accessories, sports, and kids will participate in this sale, offering discounts ranging from 10% to 50%. Women’s fashion brands Diruciano and CC Collect offer 30% discounts, and men’s fashion brands such as Beanpole and Lacoste will be sold at 30% off. Living brands will also have sale items available for purchase.
Shinsegae Department Store will also hold ‘SSG Festa’ during the same period. A fortune cookie event will be held on the mobile application, giving away prizes such as diamond jewelry from the brand Adir, pure gold Puvilla figurines, and accommodation vouchers for the Chosun Hotel. From February 2 to 8, a ‘Lucky Food’ event will be held where customers can receive discount coupons for premium food ingredients carefully selected by buyers. Representative products include Korean beef bulgogi, animal welfare certified fresh eggs, and Crudo organic extra virgin olive oil.
Hyundai Department Store will also hold a New Year shopping festival themed ‘2023 The Happiness’ at all 16 stores nationwide. In this event, over 300 brands including fashion, accessories, sports, and cosmetics will offer discounts of up to 50%. The Hyundai Seoul will hold a casual brand season-off sale featuring Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, and Hazzys until the 5th, offering up to 30% discounts on outerwear, knits, and pants. The Pangyo branch will hold the Pangyo Home Interior Fair until the 8th, offering up to 30% discounts on beds, sofas, and home decor items. Cultural events will also be presented. The Trade Center branch will showcase the ‘Frida Kahlo Photo Exhibition,’ the first in Korea, where visitors can see images of the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo during her lifetime throughout the event period.

Galleria Department Store will hold ‘Galleria Shopping Week’ from the 30th to January 15.
