According to Jinhaksa on the 29th, the final number of regular admission general selection slots at Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Korea University totaled 4,660. This figure includes 316 slots carried over from unfilled early admission quotas.
First, Seoul National University carried over 33 slots from 20 departments that were unfilled during early admissions, resulting in a total of 1,345 slots for regular admissions. Despite a significant increase in the initial number of regular admission slots, the scale of carryover slots is similar to last year’s 35. Among the 33 carryover slots, 28 came from the natural sciences division.
Korea University carried over 147 slots, finalizing the regular admission slots at 1,643. The initial number of regular admission slots was 1,496, 25 more than the previous year, but the carryover slots from early admissions decreased by 72, resulting in a final decrease of 47 slots for regular admissions. This decrease in carryover slots is analyzed to be due to the relaxation of the minimum CSAT score requirements for the school recommendation track, which is a student record-based selection. Similarly, a relatively large number of carryover slots came from the natural sciences division, with 24 in the Department of Computer Science, 23 in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and 12 in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
Yonsei University carried over 136 slots, selecting a total of 1,672 students (including the special selection for the Advanced Convergence Major) through regular admissions. The initial number of regular admission slots increased by 17 compared to last year, but the carryover slots from early admissions decreased by 26, resulting in a final decrease of 9 slots. The humanities division recorded the highest number of carryover slots, with 15 each from the Department of Economics and the Department of Convergence Humanities and Social Sciences. In the natural sciences division, 16 slots were carried over from the Department of Convergence Science and Engineering, 11 from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 8 from the Department of Computer Science, and 1 from the Department of Dentistry.
Overall, with a decrease in carryover slots from early admissions, the admissions industry views this as a result of universities reducing their early admission quotas. Now that the final number of regular admission slots has been confirmed, it is important for applicants to devise appropriate application strategies.

Wooyeon Chul, Director of the Admissions Strategy Research Institute at Jinhaksa, advised, “The occurrence of carryover slots from early admissions is one of the important variables in regular admissions and must be confirmed through each university’s final recruitment guidelines. Since an increase in recruitment slots can lead to a higher chance of acceptance, it is necessary to carefully judge while checking real-time competition rates.”
