[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will expand the locally led youth job project to support asset formation and sustainable economic activities for local youth in the Year of the Rabbit.
On the 29th, Nam-gu announced, "By being selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's public contest project, next year we will promote the 'Youth Hope STAY Job Support Project' and the 'Successful Startup Ecosystem Creation Project' as part of providing locally led youth jobs," adding, "We will invest 1.07 billion KRW next year to provide jobs and other opportunities to 45 local youths."
The locally led youth job project aims to resolve the issue of local youth leaving for other regions in search of jobs. Participating youths receive annual wages worth about 24 million KRW, along with 100,000 KRW for self-development to obtain certifications and benefits for job training support.
Since 2019, Nam-gu has been selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's public contest project for five consecutive years, supporting 81 local youths with jobs and approximately 1.394 billion KRW from 2019 to 2022. Next year, it plans to provide jobs to 45 local youths.
First, in the Youth Hope STAY Job Support Project field, jobs will be provided to 36 youths.
The participants are unemployed youths aged 19 to 39 residing in the district. Nam-gu plans to collaborate with 23 companies in future new industries and New Deal-related sectors located in the district to provide youth jobs.
Youths participating in the project will receive wage support of 48 million KRW over two years, and if they continue working at the project site or get employed or start a business in companies located in the district after the wage support ends, they will receive an incentive of 10 million KRW.
In the Successful Startup Ecosystem Creation Project field, 9 local youth entrepreneurs will be supported.
Youths starting new businesses will receive 15 million KRW in startup growth support funds to help establish their early business, and if they hire one youth employee in the second year, wage support will also be provided.
The support targets youths aged 19 to 39 who have established a business within the last 7 years and have their business located in the district.
