Police Book Gangbuk-gu Mayor Lee Sunhee on Charges of Violating Political Funds Act
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] The police have received a complaint alleging that Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk District, Seoul, accepted money during the local election campaign period in June, and have launched an investigation into the matter.
On the 28th, the Gangbuk Police Station in Seoul announced that they have booked Mayor Lee on charges of violating the Political Funds Act. The investigation began after the police received the complaint.

According to the complaint, Mayor Lee is accused of receiving money from Mr. A, who previously served as the chairman of the Gangbuk District Council and as a Seoul City council member for Gangbuk District, during the local election campaign period in June, and promising the position of chairman of the Gangbuk District Urban Management Corporation in return.
