View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT announced on the 27th that it has launched a cloud-based Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS) that allows companies to easily subscribe to, use, and manage communication channels with customers in an integrated manner.
CPaaS (Communication Platform as a Service) is a service model that provides customer communication channels (voice calls, text messages, recordings, etc.) on a cloud environment platform. KT offers various communication channels through application programming interfaces (APIs). Companies can flexibly apply these to portal sites or dedicated application (app) environments or easily integrate them with industry-specific solutions.
As corporate communication methods, which were previously centered on phone calls and text messages, expand to social network services (SNS), and more companies deliver notifications or news to customers via dedicated apps, the number of companies seeking to build and operate their own communication systems is increasing.
The APIs provided by KT through the communication platform include domestic text messages such as Short Message Service (SMS), Long Message Service (LMS), Multimedia Message Service (MMS), global text messages (SMS), and two-factor authentication messages (2FA). KakaoTalk Biz Message and App Push channels will also be provided as APIs by January next year.
KT has simplified the subscription process so that corporate customers can easily and quickly apply communication functions to their internal systems through online subscription authentication only. In addition, KT plans to continuously provide various forms of developer support, such as usage guides and development examples, to help corporate customers build communication systems easily and quickly within their internal systems.
Starting next year, KT plans to develop infrastructure such as voice calls and intelligent networks in software form and innovatively advance the communication platform service through internal capabilities and external strategic partnerships in AI, big data, cloud, and more.
KT has partnered with global CPaaS provider Vonage to offer global outbound messaging (A2P) services to domestic companies. KT and Vonage will continue to collaborate on capabilities for flexible technology and high-value API development necessary to meet future communication requirements.
John Lee, Vonage Asia Pacific CEO, said, “There is a growing need for solutions that enable personalized experiences across communication channels,” adding, “I am pleased to play a role in helping launch an innovative platform service that supports companies in accelerating more meaningful customer connections, conversations, and engagement.”
