US to Waive Non-Immigrant Visa Interview for Study Abroad and Others Until End of Next Year
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] The U.S. Department of State announced on the 23rd (local time) that it will extend the waiver of in-person interviews for non-immigrant visa issuance required for studying abroad, employment, and other purposes until December 31, 2023.
The visas eligible for the in-person interview waiver include H-2 visas for unskilled temporary workers, F and M visas for international students, and J visas for exchange visitors. For H-1B visas for skilled workers, H-3 visas for employment training, L visas for multinational company transferees, O visas for individuals with extraordinary ability in science, arts, and other fields, P visas for athletes, artists, and entertainers, and Q visas for participants in international cultural exchange programs, the waiver is available only for certain applicants.

Additionally, the Department of State will also waive in-person interviews for renewal applications of the same visa type submitted within 48 months of visa expiration until further notice.
