Boseong-gun Provides Up to 10.8 Million Won in Childbirth and Childcare Support
First Childbirth Support Fund Raised from 2.4 Million Won to 6 Million Won
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that it will significantly expand childbirth and childcare expenses starting in 2023.
To this end, Boseong-gun partially amended the "Boseong-gun Childbirth Encouragement and Childcare Support Ordinance" at the 2nd regular meeting of the 291st Boseong-gun Council.
Through the amendment of the support ordinance, the childbirth support fund for the first child, which was previously 2.4 million KRW, has been raised to 6 million KRW; for the second child, from 3.6 million KRW to 7.2 million KRW; and for the third child and beyond, from 6 million KRW to 10.8 million KRW.
Newborns whose support applications are submitted from January 1, 2023, will receive the updated benefits. Eligibility requires that either the father or mother has a residence registered in Boseong-gun as of the date of birth. When registering the birth, the relevant eup/myeon office will verify eligibility for childbirth and childcare support, after which the application form can be completed and submitted.
Additionally, to reduce the economic burden on childbirth families, the county will fully cover the out-of-pocket expenses for postpartum maternal and newborn health care services, excluding government and Jeollanam-do subsidies. All mothers residing in Boseong-gun are eligible to apply.
Kim Cheol-woo, the mayor of Boseong-gun, stated, "With this expanded support for childbirth and childcare expenses, we aim to promote social responsibility for childbirth and childcare, contributing to continuous social development and improving the quality of life for our residents. We will continue to do our best to make Boseong-gun a place where both children and parents are happy."
