Hyundai Tucson Selected as Best Family Car by UK Top Gear
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Hyundai Tucson has been selected as the best family car by the British BBC car TV show Top Gear.
According to Hyundai Motor Company, on the 23rd, it announced that in a recently aired Top Gear program, among 50 family cars sold locally in the UK, the Tucson outperformed all competing vehicles to be chosen as the best family car.
Fifty competitive models vied for the best family car title. Top Gear selected three final candidates including Hyundai Tucson, Citro?n E-Berlingo, and ?koda Octavia.
Ultimately, the Tucson was crowned the best family car, receiving high praise from the hosts. Chris Harris, the host of the Top Gear program, said, "The Tucson overwhelms its competitors with a proper hot hatch design, an interesting electrification lineup, and value as a family car," adding, "It is a very excellent car that is thriving."
Another host, Paddy McGuinness, introduced, "I think we all agree on this decision," and said, "The car we recommend is the Hyundai Tucson."
In the early 2000s, Top Gear harshly criticized Hyundai by comparing it to a wheeled refrigerator and washing machine. However, it has now become a regular source of praise.
Recently, Top Gear magazine selected Hyundai N Vision 74 for the ‘Instant Icon Award’ at the ‘2022 Top Gear Awards’ and Kia as the ‘Manufacturer of the Year’.
The official Top Gear YouTube channel, which has 8.54 million subscribers, is no different. In a test drive video of the Hyundai Rolling Lab RN22e and N Vision 74 posted last September, Top Gear evaluated the 2020s automotive market as the era of Hyundai. They expressed great anticipation, saying the new chapter of Hyundai dominating the industry will be very exciting.
In particular, the video recorded 3.84 million views in just over three months, becoming the most viewed video on the Top Gear channel in 2022.
