BLB Launches Global ESG Management... Submits SBTi Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets
BLB Co., Ltd. announced on the 22nd that it plans to accelerate its global ESG management by recently submitting its greenhouse gas reduction targets and plans to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
SBTi is a global coalition established in 2015 by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI), and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It supports various companies by providing guidance on greenhouse gas reduction and verifying and approving their targets.
Since 1999, BLB has been a pioneer in innovative cosmetic tools. After changing its name from Goryeo Puff, the company has strived to become a leader in "BEAUTY LIFE BALANCE (Byu.La.Bael)".
Currently, BLB possesses unique technology and differentiated manufacturing lines accumulated through 20 years of expertise and experience in the beauty tool industry. The company commercializes vegan-certified puffs made from natural corn starch, which has obtained USDA Biobased Certification, practicing sustainable beauty.
Above all, BLB is proactively pursuing ESG management by engaging in various low-carbon corporate activities such as reducing energy consumption in production facilities, limiting heating and cooling temperatures, and operating eco-friendly company vehicles to promote environmentally friendly management.
Accordingly, BLB has set a target to reduce carbon emissions by 42% by 2030 and recently submitted a detailed plan to SBTi regarding the implementation methods.
In addition, BLB is participating in the "Business Ambition for 1.5°C Campaign," making voluntary efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This campaign aims to keep the global average temperature rise below 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels, as set by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. BLB is the first among domestic small and medium-sized enterprises to set a 1.5-degree target.
