NHIS Appoints Hyeonryong Hyun and Youngsam Hong as New Directors

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] The National Health Insurance Service announced on the 22nd that through the open recruitment process for executive directors, Hyun Jae-ryong, head of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters, and Hong Young-sam, Research Coordination Director at the Health Insurance Research Institute, have been appointed as the new Executive Director of Planning and Executive Director of Long-term Care, respectively.
Hyun Jae-ryong, the new Executive Director of Planning, graduated from the Department of Public Administration at Kyungpook National University and joined the Medical Insurance Association in 1986. He has held positions such as Director of the Benefits Guarantee Office at the NHIS, Deputy Director of the Health Insurance Policy Research Institute, Director of the Talent Development Institute, and Head of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters.
Hong Young-sam, the new Executive Director of Long-term Care, graduated from the Department of Architecture at Samcheok Technical College and joined a regional association in 1989. He has served as Director of Planning and Coordination at Ilsan Hospital, Director of Benefits Management at NHIS, and Research Coordination Director at the Health Insurance Research Institute.
The new Executive Director of Planning, Hyun, will oversee the Planning and Coordination Office, Legal Support Office, Financial Management Office, and Public Communication Office. The new Executive Director of Long-term Care, Hong, will oversee the Long-term Care Planning Office, Long-term Care Standards Office, Long-term Care Benefits Office, and Long-term Care Review Office.

The NHIS explained the appointment background, stating, "Both individuals are evaluated as suitable candidates for the executive director positions due to their diverse practical experience and organizational management capabilities." The term of office for NHIS executive directors is two years, with the possibility of renewal on a one-year basis.
