Governor Jin-tae Kim of Gangwon Province discussed the direction the provincial administration should take next year based on reports on major issues from departments and bureaus during the second expanded executive meeting held since the inauguration of the 8th elected administration on the morning of the 19th at the Gangwon Provincial Office. On the 19th, at the second expanded executive meeting held since his inauguration, attended by senior officials and staff of the provincial government, Governor Kim emphasized, "I am grateful to the employees who have worked tirelessly for the past five months, and let us move forward focusing solely on the people of Gangwon Province."
He continued, "The special self-governing province's special provisions and legal amendments are not the work of a single department but require the cooperation of all offices and bureaus in the provincial government," urging again, "Eliminate silos and approach this with a company-wide mindset."
Governor Kim ordered, "Major issues that will determine the future of the province, such as the groundbreaking of the Chuncheon-Sokcho high-speed railway, legal amendments for the Special Self-Governing Province Support Committee, semiconductor workforce training, and the swift promotion of the Osaek cable car, are progressing smoothly, but I ask for a little more effort."
In particular, he expressed gratitude to the related officials who worked swiftly to extinguish the recent Samcheok wildfire amid ongoing concerns about safety accidents caused by continuous cold waves and forest fires, emphasizing proactive disaster response according to the seasonal characteristics of severe winter cold and the year-end and New Year period.
Governor Kim also expressed regret over the delayed National Assembly schedule despite efforts to secure the highest-ever national budget and urged the political circles for a swift budget review.
The second expanded executive meeting, held about four months after the 8th term inauguration, was attended by over 130 people, including all heads of offices, bureaus, divisions, and affiliated institutions of the provincial government. From 10 a.m., they discussed the direction of next year's provincial administration based on reports on major current issues from the offices and bureaus for 80 minutes.
