Korea Gallup announced that from November 13 to 15, a survey of 1,001 people aged 18 and older nationwide asked who was the most impressive player at the Qatar World Cup domestically and internationally, and 59% selected Son Heung-min. The survey allowed respondents to freely select two players.
Despite undergoing surgery for an orbital fracture injury, Son Heung-min played full-time in all World Cup matches and led the Korean national team to the round of 16.
Korea Gallup explained, "Son Heung-min was considered the most anticipated player on the Korean national football team just before the World Cup," adding, "He is a beloved star who has ranked first for six consecutive years in the annual 'Sportsman of the Year' survey."
