"Due to Resurgence Spread"... Increase in COVID-19 Patients Admitted to General Wards
[Asia Economy Reporter Byeon Seon-jin] It has been revealed that the number of patients admitted to general hospital beds is continuously increasing due to the resurgence of COVID-19.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters announced the results of the "General Hospital Bed Admission Status Survey" reported by the Central Accident Response Headquarters on the 16th. General hospital beds are beds that patients can be admitted to quickly without a separate bed allocation procedure for COVID-19 patients. According to the 21st survey conducted at 678 hospitals nationwide from the 9th to the 14th of this month, a total of 13,446 general hospital beds were in operation.
The number of general hospital beds has been steadily increasing over the past five weeks: 13,148 beds in the 17th survey, 13,327 beds in the 18th, 13,349 beds in the 19th, and 13,416 beds in the 20th. The government collects the status of general hospital beds, which allow COVID-19 patients to be admitted quickly without a separate bed allocation procedure, once a week with the cooperation of local governments.
The number of patients admitted to general hospital beds is also continuously rising, reaching 5,337. The figures were 4,814 in the 17th survey, 4,758 in the 18th, 4,781 in the 19th, and 4,797 in the 20th. The government evaluated this as a result of activating voluntary admission of COVID-19 patients by utilizing the general medical system. The status of general hospital beds can be checked on the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service website.
