Korea Imported Automobile Association Signs Business Agreement with Automobile Safety Research Institute

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] The Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA) announced on the 9th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority's Automobile Safety Research Institute (hereinafter KATRI) to harmonize international automobile safety standards. Through this agreement, KAIDA plans not only to assist in the domestic adoption of international safety standards but also to promote active information sharing with KATRI.
The main areas of cooperation include ▲ collaboration on research and development for the international harmonization of automobile safety standards ▲ continuous provision and sharing of English materials on domestic and international automobile-related standards ▲ cooperation in activities such as expert consultative bodies for automobile-related policies, systems, and international harmonization of automobile safety standards ▲ joint hosting of workshops for the establishment of automobile-related laws, systems, and standards, as well as exchanges and other mutually beneficial fields.
KATRI, which signed the agreement with KAIDA, is an affiliated institution of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority aiming to create a safe, convenient, and pleasant transportation environment. It is engaged in responding to future automobile environments, protecting consumer rights, and strengthening research expertise. KATRI also conducts self-certification conformity investigations for automobiles and parts, safety defect investigations, collection and analysis of automobile defect information, and through automobile safety evaluations, encourages manufacturers to produce safer vehicles, thereby protecting the lives and property of the public.

Im Hangyu, Vice Chairman of KAIDA, stated, “Since its establishment in 1987, KATRI has played a leading role as Korea’s first accredited comprehensive automobile research institute in improving automobile safety and performance.” He added, “As a representative information provider for the domestic imported car industry, KAIDA will contribute to the development of the domestic automobile industry by communicating and cooperating with related organizations and industries based on the highly reliable statistics and English-language automobile regulations services provided by the association.”
