On the 9th, Samsung Engineering announced that it signed a contract the previous day with Sartorius Korea Operations, a global life sciences company, for the 'Sartorius Songdo Campus' initial project work. The contract is worth approximately 78.4 billion KRW. Samsung Engineering plans to carry out the project's initial construction work, including site leveling, piling work, foundation work, and permit support, until the end of next year.
The plant to be built in the Incheon Free Economic Zone in Songdo, Incheon, will produce raw materials and auxiliary facilities for biopharmaceuticals. Once completed, it will manufacture single-use bags for biopharmaceutical production, pharmaceutical membrane filters, and cell culture media.
Samsung Engineering gained strong trust from the client by participating from the early stages of the project and successfully performing basic and detailed design tasks. Additionally, proposing a differentiated construction strategy based on abundant bio product experience and technological competitiveness in the Songdo area greatly influenced the success of the contract. With this order, Samsung Engineering expects to secure new global bio company clients and expand its business scope from the biopharmaceutical market to the bio materials market, anticipating linked orders such as additional investment projects.
