Police Major Innovation TF 4th Meeting... "Civil-Police Cooperation in Mass Gatherings"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 8th, the National Police Agency held the 4th 'Police Grand Innovation Task Force (TF) General Meeting' at the Seodaemun-gu office in Seoul, chaired by co-chairmen Changwon Lee, President of Hansung University, and Hyunbae Jo, former Commissioner of the Korea Coast Guard, to discuss civil-police cooperation measures for maintaining order during mass gatherings and other topics.
The TF stated that at the meeting, it focused on reviewing legal and institutional improvement tasks in the police sector. In addition to civil-police cooperation measures (amendment of the Security Services Act), the TF discussed major tasks such as the enactment plan of the '112 Basic Act (tentative name)' to support frontline police officers' field response, and the reorganization plan of the community policing system to strengthen field response capabilities.

The TF was formed to prevent recurrence of similar incidents following the Itaewon tragedy. Under the chairmanship of the co-chairmen, a general meeting involving TF members (internal and external) and the field police advisory group is held once a week. Up to the 3rd meeting, about 20 detailed innovation tasks were derived, and at this meeting, progress checks on ongoing tasks were conducted simultaneously.
