The Jukjeon District Urban Regeneration So-Gong-Gam Festival is a resident participation event as part of the Jukjeon District Urban Regeneration Project, where members of the Village Management Social Cooperative and the Residents' Council directly implement what they learned through resident capacity-building education.
On this day, the event offered various attractions and entertainment that drew great responses from participants, including cultural performances such as pungmul, gugak, and dance, an exhibition of oil paintings by Jukjeon grandmothers, knife sharpening services for dull knives, handicraft experiences, and prize events.
The Village Management Social Cooperative of the Jukjeon District Urban Regeneration, which organized this event, established autonomous resident organizations and secured momentum for urban regeneration projects through the 2021 Residents' Council General Meeting and launch, and received final establishment approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2022, promoting various community strengthening projects.
County Governor Goo In-mo said, “I hope this event, which the residents of Jukjeon Village planned and held for the first time, will not end as a one-time event but will continue as a resident-led village project,” and added, “I ask for the great interest of Geochang residents.”
