Draft Radiation Environmental Impact Assessment for Continued Operation of Gori Unit 2 Completed, Public Hearing with Gijang Residents Held
Following the Ulsan and Yangsan City Public Hearings on the 28th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters (Head Lee Kwang-hoon) held a public hearing on the draft radiation environmental impact assessment report for the continued operation of Gori Unit 2 on the 30th at the Gori Sports Culture Center multi-performance hall in Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan.
This public hearing was held to gather opinions from residents of Gijang-gun on the draft radiation environmental impact assessment report for the continued operation of Gori Unit 2, following the public hearings held on the 28th for residents of Ulsan and Yangsan.
About 200 residents of Gijang-gun attended the event, which proceeded in the order of explanation of the draft radiation environmental impact assessment report for Gori Unit 2, explanation of the results and main contents of the public inspection, responses to residents' statements, and answers to on-site questions.
Residents of Gijang-gun asked questions about the direction of regional development through the continued operation of Gori Unit 2 and requested more communication during the continued operation process.
Lee Kwang-hoon, head of the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters, said, "We will carefully review the discussions held at this public hearing and actively address the matters that need to be reflected in the radiation environmental impact assessment report."
He also said, "I hope this public hearing served as an opportunity to enhance the understanding of Gijang-gun residents regarding the radiation environmental impact assessment report and the continued operation of Gori Unit 2."

The next public hearing will be held on December 2 at 2 p.m. in the Grand Moment Youth Hostel auditorium in Nam-gu, Busan, targeting residents of Haeundae-gu, Geumjeong-gu, Suyeong-gu, and Nam-gu.
