Ahn Hyeong-ju, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Appeals "Let's Join in Practicing Water Conservation"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Ahn Hyeong-ju, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, recently announced an appeal titled 'Save Water! Join Water Conservation,' the 29th reported.
Councilor Ahn stated, "Due to the drought that has lasted for about 250 days this year, Dongbok Dam is facing the risk of depletion," and appealed for water-saving practices, saying, "If water usage does not decrease, not only will water supply restrictions be imposed, but water outages will be inevitable by February next year."
Councilor Ahn warned, "The reservoir rate of Dongbok Dam, the main water source for Gwangju citizens, was 33.4% as of the 31st of last month, and Juam Dam was 32.7%, which is less than half of the same period last year (72%), putting us at risk of running out of drinking water by February next year if the current situation continues."
He added, "Some areas in Sinan and Wando, Jeollanam-do, are currently using transported drinking water, and difficulties are expected in securing agricultural water supply in Yudeok-dong and Seochang-dong in Seo-gu. We urge active participation in water-saving practices in daily life as well as in commercial and industrial facilities."
