Power Cube Semi, a 'Power Semiconductor' Company, Successfully Secures Series B Investment
Gamechanger Investment, Billangs Investment, and Anda Asia Ventures Participate
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] PowerCubeSemi, a power semiconductor specialist company, announced on the 29th that despite the sluggish financial market atmosphere, it has secured Series B investments from domestic investment institutions GameChanger Investment, Villance Investment, and Anda Asia Ventures.
PowerCubeSemi plans to use the raised funds to expand its facilities significantly to increase research and development and production capacity of power semiconductors, actively responding to the explosively growing power semiconductor market driven by energy transition for carbon neutrality and the shift to electric vehicles.
PowerCubeSemi, a specialist in Silicon (Si) and Silicon Carbide (SiC) power semiconductors, has developed large-capacity Si Super Junction MOSFET products since 2017 and completed its product lineup for server power and onboard chargers (OBC) for vehicles in 2021. Through active overseas promotion, it exports its developed products to foreign electric vehicle companies. Additionally, by developing 1,700V SiC Trench MOSFET through a large-scale national project, it is expanding its SiC MOSFET product lineup and preparing for automotive reliability certification to actively respond to the automotive semiconductor market starting in 2023.
Furthermore, PowerCubeSemi plans to prepare production facilities on a site within the Cheonan Industrial Complex, scheduled for completion in 2024, to actively respond to the automotive semiconductor market with advanced production and quality control. Through this, the company aims to prepare for listing and achieve sales of 100 billion KRW by 2026.
Kang Taeyoung, CEO of PowerCubeSemi, stated, "Automotive power semiconductors require more stringent quality and production management than general power semiconductors, so in-house reliability and quality management capabilities are essential." He added, "Once the Cheonan plant is completed, production management and quality control related to this will be possible." He emphasized, "Thus, the company will be able to grow several steps further with competitiveness comparable to overseas companies, based not only on product performance achieved through semiconductor design but also on quality management capabilities that customers can trust."
