Jeonnam Consumer Group's 'Water Saving Campaign in Daily Life'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 25th that four local consumer organizations will promote a "Water Saving Campaign in Daily Life" for five weeks until the 31st of next month to overcome water shortages caused by drought.
This campaign is being carried out to encourage participation from all residents as the rainfall in the Jeonnam region has reached only 851mm as of the end of October this year, which is 61.5% of the average for the same period (1,390.3mm), making it important to practice water saving in daily life to overcome the difficulties caused by drought.
About 100 members from four consumer organizations including the Korea Consumer Federation Jeonnam Mokpo Branch, Korea Women's Association Jeonnam Branch, Consumer Education Central Association Jeonnam Branch, and Yeosu YMCA will participate, conducting the campaign eight times near traditional markets and terminals with high foot traffic.
On the first day, the 24th, 80 executives and members of the Korea Women's Association Jeonnam Provincial Branch and city/county branches gathered at Yeonggwang Arts Center to declare the practice of ten water-saving rules in daily life, such as "lowering the water pressure of household meters" and "doing laundry in batches."
Through the "Water Saving in Daily Life" street campaign, they plan to promote "practical water-saving measures in daily life" that each household can follow and actively encourage residents' participation through a social networking service (SNS) nomination relay.
