On the 24th, Gyeongnam Province announced that it has established measures to prevent accidents and ensure the safe supply of gas and electrical facilities in preparation for the winter season, when energy usage surges.
The inspections, led by the province, will be carried out in cooperation with city and county governments within the province, the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, and the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation.
The inspection targets include city gas supply facilities, LPG filling stations, LPG sales outlets, and multi-use facilities.
The main inspection items are ▲ gas pipeline defects and gas leaks ▲ proper maintenance and operation of safety devices for gas and electrical facilities ▲ proper management of LPG containers ▲ whether fire hazard factors are neglected ▲ confirmation of safety manager attendance, among others.
Minor issues found during the inspection will be addressed immediately on-site, and facilities requiring improvement will be under special management until the improvements are completed.
The province will strengthen the gas safety accident response system and operate a gas supply inconvenience reporting center for city and county governments and city gas companies to ensure smooth gas supply in vulnerable areas.
It also plans to promote safety usage guidelines for gas and electrical facilities through institutional websites, social media (SNS), and electronic display boards.
