On the 23rd, KT and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority held a "Business Agreement Ceremony for Future Mobility Business Cooperation" at the KT Songpa Building in Songpa-gu, Seoul, attended by Choi Kang-rim, Head of KT AI Mobility Division, and Han Jeong-heon, Head of the Future Mobility Promotion Division at the Korea Transportation Safety Authority. Through this agreement, KT's capabilities in connectivity, transportation infrastructure, electric vehicles, and aerial mobility such as Urban Air Mobility (UAM) can be integrated with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority's expertise in transportation.
Both organizations selected cooperation areas based on their respective technological and business capabilities and plan to strive for joint technology development and demonstration commercialization. Through this business agreement, they will collaborate on ▲joint technology development in battery safety technology based on electric vehicle (EV) operation data ▲joint cooperation for the commercialization of Korean Urban Air Mobility (K-UAM) ▲discovering business opportunities and joint commercialization using big data in the transportation infrastructure sector.
In the electric vehicle sector, the goal is to ensure the safety of electric vehicles and promote them as eco-friendly transportation means. Both organizations will jointly develop a battery safety evaluation algorithm based on electric vehicle operation data using artificial intelligence (AI) technology and devise ways to activate resources from used batteries. Through this, KT plans to contribute to establishing national policies and standards related to electric vehicle safety and develop service business models.
In the UAM sector, the aim is to achieve stable commercialization of Korean Urban Air Mobility (K-UAM) and build a sustainable industry. To this end, they will plan core technology development (R&D), respond to policy and technology fields, and discover business opportunities.
Furthermore, in the transportation infrastructure sector, KT will combine its mobility data, communication, and floating population information big data with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority's transportation-related big data. Utilizing this, both organizations will jointly promote projects for planning and developing new transportation services based on big data and AI, such as demand-responsive transit (DRT), a passenger transport service that flexibly operates routes and stops according to customer demand, targeting local governments.
