This event was organized to enhance the capabilities of graduate students in the Department of Social Welfare at Silla University and to provide a platform for experts in the social welfare field to present papers, engage in discussions, and share academic exchanges and research outcomes.
At the event, Chairman Kim Yong-ik delivered a lecture on the topic "Challenges and Prospects of Community Care."
In his lecture, Chairman Kim stated, "Since the peak of the productive population in 2016, relying solely on the labor force of youth and men is insufficient; participation in economic activities by women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities is necessary," adding, "The expansion of care can make an important contribution to this."
The community care advocated by Chairman Kim is a system integrating the three elements of 'health,' 'welfare,' and 'housing,' which are conveniently accessible at the place of residence through professional home visits for health and welfare services and visits by beneficiaries to institutions.
He said, "Community care, which aims for defamilialization and deinstitutionalization, will enable cyclical care through a significant expansion of visiting services and day and night care services, providing user-tailored services and improving the quality of nursing facilities and hospitals."
He also emphasized, "To guarantee care for all citizens, a system must be established that ensures quality assurance and a balanced mix between public and private sectors so that any resident can be sufficiently and effectively guaranteed care anytime and anywhere," and added, "Expanding elderly and disabled support housing, as seen in Japan and Western countries to meet diverse housing needs, is a very important task."
At the subsequent academic conference, three papers were presented: ▲ "The Effect of Social Workers' Sense of Calling on Organizational Citizenship Behavior" by Oh Kyung-eun, Director of the Busan Women and Family Development Institute; ▲ "The Moderating Effects of Adaptability and Social Support on the Impact of Elderly Health and Economic Life on Life Satisfaction" by Choi Yeon-ok, Professor at Dongmyung University Lifelong Education Center; and ▲ "The Impact of Social Value and Market Orientation of Social Enterprise Workers on Service Quality" by Choi Young-gyu, Representative of Silla Learning Sharing Community.
During the designated discussions led by Chairpersons Oh Heung-suk of the Social Welfare Council and Yoon Hae-bok of the Social Workers Association, topics such as ▲ enhancing social workers' organizational citizenship behavior ▲ improving life satisfaction in the community through elderly adaptability ▲ and ways to improve service quality in social enterprises were also discussed.
Professor Cho Ui-su, head of the graduate program in the Department of Social Welfare at Silla University, said, "At the academic conference of the Social Welfare Research Association, which marks its third year since its launch, we plan to continue presenting important issues in social welfare practice and policy areas," adding, "We will continue to expand the public discourse for social welfare innovation."
Established in 1997, the graduate program in social welfare at Silla University currently enrolls over 80 graduate students in master's and doctoral programs, including professional researchers, mid-level managers and social workers in social welfare institutions, and public officials.
