Choi Mookyung, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member, Leads Proposal for 'Alternative Education Institution Ordinance'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Choi Moo-kyung, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly member (Democratic Party of Korea·Yeosu 4), who proposed the 'Jeonnam Office of Education Alternative Education Institution Support Ordinance,' passed the Education Committee review of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly on the 23rd.
This ordinance stipulates necessary matters to provide equal educational opportunities to youth and to support local alternative education institutions.
It also includes provisions for the Jeonnam Superintendent of Education to establish a basic plan for supporting alternative education institutions and to provide systematic administrative and financial support.
In particular, when alternative education institutions apply for project support, it allows for full or partial coverage of costs within the budget for operating educational programs and purchasing alternative education materials.
Assembly member Choi Moo-kyung said, "We have established a legal basis to support alternative education institutions that have been in a blind spot outside the formal system," and added, "Through this ordinance, we expect it to guarantee the learning rights of out-of-school youth and create a safe educational environment."

This ordinance, having passed the standing committee, is scheduled to be approved at the plenary session of the 367th Jeonnam Provincial Assembly's 2nd regular meeting on the 9th of next month.
