The 5 million KRW development fund is the revenue from the transfer of patent rights registered in the capstone design course of the LINC+ and University Innovation Support Project, guided by Professor Kim Namgyu and his students.
The fund will be used as scholarships for students in the Department of Creative Software Engineering and the Department of Applied Software Engineering.
Graduates of the Department of Applied Software Engineering Kim Donghyun, Kim Taehyung, Park Jinhyo, Sung Eunsan, Lee Jaegun, and current students Kwon Taehyun and Park Hyunjun, together with Professor Kim Namgyu, generated various ideas in the 2018 capstone design course under the theme "Remote Control of Smart Farm Using Various IoT Technologies."
Subsequently, they applied for and registered a patent for the "Method of Controlling Smart Farm Using Voice Recognition" with the university's patent application and registration support and assistance from a patent attorney.
The patent was recently transferred to a company, and 5 million KRW, part of the technology transfer fee, was paid as technology compensation.
Professor Kim Namgyu said, "I am proud that the capstone design course has become a model success case from undergraduate project research to intellectual property rights," and added, "I am proud of the students who participated in the research and willingly donated the technology compensation as scholarships for their juniors."
