Minister Lee Chang-yang Meets with Vestas CEO in Denmark to Discuss Wind Turbine Factory Establishment

View original image[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Lee Chang-yang, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, met with Herik Anderson, CEO of Vestas, the world's No. 1 wind turbine manufacturer based in Denmark, to discuss investment cooperation plans including the establishment of a domestic wind turbine production plant.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that Minister Lee met with CEO Herik Anderson at the Government Seoul Office on the 22nd. Vestas, a manufacturer of onshore and offshore wind turbines, is considering investment to produce and supply 15MW-class offshore wind turbines and components in Korea.
Minister Lee explained the various benefits provided if Vestas invests domestically, including tax incentives, site support, and cash assistance. He also introduced the recent expansion trend and growth potential of offshore wind power in Korea, actively encouraging Vestas to invest in establishing wind turbine production plants for nacelles (core wind power equipment) and blades (rotating wings).
In particular, he emphasized Korea's advantage as an open trade country that offers an efficient and stable supply chain related to wind power based on manufacturing competitiveness. He presented various government support measures such as tax incentives, site support, and cash assistance provided when investing in production plants.
