On the 22nd, the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that from last week until the day before, they sent three people in their 20s to prosecution on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (prohibition of distribution of illegal information, etc.). The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency also sent one person in their 30s to prosecution on the same charges.
According to the police, these individuals are accused of posting insulting comments about the victims in the chat rooms of online gaming sites since the 30th of last month.
The police apprehended them by tracking their Internet Protocol (IP) addresses after receiving reports from people who were in the same chat rooms at the time.
