Gyeonggi-do Fire Department Takes Preemptive Measures Against Heavy Snow and Cold Wave
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters has prepared an emergency rescue plan for heavy snowfall and cold waves during the winter season.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced on the 22nd that it has established the "Heavy Snow and Cold Wave Emergency Rescue Plan," which includes maintaining 100% operational status of winter firefighting equipment and forward deployment of firefighting forces to areas expected to be affected, and will implement it until March 15 of next year.
First, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters plans to keep winter field activity firefighting equipment such as aerial ladder trucks, ambulances, and rescue equipment in a 100% operational state. Additionally, with cooperation from local governments, it will establish a preemptive preparedness system including securing de-icing agents and supplies in advance and strengthening surveillance activities in disaster-prone areas.
Furthermore, upon weather warnings, measures such as ▲activation of the emergency rescue control team ▲forward deployment of firefighting personnel to areas expected to be affected ▲expansion of 30 reception desks to prepare for a surge in 119 emergency calls will be implemented.
In particular, firefighting helicopters will be actively utilized in isolated areas and emergency situations caused by heavy snow and cold waves, and the transport system, including medical guidance for cold-related patients, will be further strengthened.
Moreover, the safety accident management and supervision by fire station chiefs will be reinforced, and cases of safety accidents will be promptly shared.
Cho Sun-ho, head of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, emphasized, "Recently, the world has been experiencing droughts, floods, and abnormal cold waves due to rapid climate changes," adding, "Gyeonggi Fire will do its utmost to minimize damage to the residents of Gyeonggi-do this winter through systematic pre-inspections, swift support for damage recovery, and strengthened cooperation among related agencies."
